Mac Maxwell, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS, is a surgical specialist at Memphis Veterinary Specialists & Emergency in Cordova. 

Dr. Maxwell graduated in 2004 from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he finished a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Colorado State University. Upon completion of the internship, he returned to Mississippi State University for a three-year surgical residency, which he completed in 2008.

Dr. Maxwell remained at Mississippi State University as an assistant professor of small animal surgery, and has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2009. He has been authored and coauthored book chapters as well as several scientific research papers. He received a Masters Degree in 2010.

Over the past 10 years Dr. Maxwell has worked with local veterinarians to provide the best surgical care for pets in the mid-South. He has trained multiple surgical residents and performed thousands of advanced surgical procedures. His special interests include minimally invasive procedures, cranial cruciate ligament surgery, spinal surgery, oncologic surgery and fracture repair.

Dr. Maxwell and his wife, Christy, both hail from Jackson, MS. They have two children, Clayton and Emily. They also have two locally adopted dogs, Sadie and Dixie. In his spare time Mac enjoys his childrens’ sporting events and is an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman.
