The primary role of a Client Service Representative (CSR) is to provide superior client service. A CSR is responsible for making a positive, lasting impression on our clients; you are the first and the last person a client interacts with. It is imperative that clients have a positive experience with us, from start to finish.
Examples of Work

- Provides top-notch customer service by making customer service a priority
- Ability to assess critical vs urgent visits; triage skills
- Attentive to client and patient needs
- Identify and work compassionately with clients in various emotional states
- Work patiently with distressed, frustrated or disgruntled clients
- Ensure a professional and courteous attitude toward all clients and team members
- Answer and triage phone calls from clients
- Check clients in and out for inpatient and outpatient services
- Monitor client flow from check-in to discharge
- Keep clients and team members informed of wait times
- Manage record requests professionally between referring hospitals and the specialty/emergency departments.
- Knowledgeable about common medications used and dispensed
- Knowledgeable of breeds and common ailments of dogs and cats
- Knowledgeable of most common services and procedures found in emergency and specialty practice
- Understand basic medical terminology
- Review invoices and process payment transactions
- Reconcile cash drawer and process all transactions with appropriate closing procedures
- Maintain proper and accurate documentation in computer and medical records system
- Prepare initial patient records and enter information into electronic records with accuracy
- Relay appropriate information to/from clients to doctors
- Computer Skills: Able to learn and master multiple Windows based systems, word processing, email and other skills needed to effectively use the practice management software.
- Assist in cleaning the hospital including but not limited to keeping the front areas of the hospital tidy, clean and sanitary.
- Attend and participate in all required hospital or department meetings
Education and Experience
- At least two (2) years of customer service in a veterinary practice required
- Ability to perform basic math without the aid of a calculator
- Must be able to spell correctly and write legibly
- Can work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holiday

Position Overview: The veterinary assistant provides support to the veterinarians and technicians in their daily tasks by cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and clerical and administrative work. They deliver quality care for all patients and provide exceptional service.
Essential Functions:
- Provide compassionate care to all patients
- Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room, taking the patient's weight and other vital signs upon arrival
- Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by the licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's).
- Calm and soothe anxious patients
- Assist doctors and technicians with the administration of medications or with patient restraint
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, and machines, etc.
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs.
- Feed patients as prescribed by the attending doctor or as the client has requested; record appetites; recognize and report any unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors
- Communicate in a positive manner with clients and ensure that they feel comfortable leaving their pet(s)
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans
- Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital each day; clean equipment, kennels, and facilities using chemicals and supplies; ensure the safe use of chemicals; complete laundry
- Bath and care for patients who stay overnight; ensure that every animal released is clean and properly groomed prior to their release
- Adhere to the hospital's safety and wellness regulations
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Show up for work regularly; full-time presence at work is essential for every shift
- Promote hospital products and services and support the organization
- Respond respectfully with urgency to directions given by Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT).
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager; may have other assigned duties if working in a specialty area (i.e., dentistry, surgery, emergency, radiology, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, etc.)
Additional Functions: Assignment to the areas below may include the following additional job functions:
Emergency:
- Assists veterinarians with a variety of emergency procedures and critical care situations
- Cleans wounds and applies casts or bandages
- Give injections and takes blood samples
- May have to be on call in the intensive care unit
Competencies:

- Animal Restraint and Safety – uses sound judgment when handling patients and always takes appropriate precautionary steps when needed
- Communication – uses effective and appropriate methods of interacting with others

- Dependability – demonstrates responsibility in completing all job tasks
- Cleanliness Standards – consistently follows sanitization and sterilization policies and procedures
- Energy and Productivity – completes tasks quickly and thoroughly without prompting
- Time Management – manages time and prioritizes work tasks effectively
- Technical Skills and Learning – keeps up-to-date with new technical skills and knowledge in the field
- Care and Use of Equipment – takes appropriate steps to perform operation checks and maintenance of equipment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years' experience in a veterinary environment successfully performing all of the duties of this position
- Vet Tech (VTNE) Certification preferred
- Experience with surgical monitoring, radiology, dental prophylaxis, and client education preferred
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
Position Requirements:
- Maintains current knowledge in the field of expertise and actively seeks opportunities for continuing education and skill improvement.
- Ability to restrain animals, fill prescriptions, and monitor sedation procedures
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors
- Requires knowledge of hospital procedures, policies, and services; client and patient treatment protocols; hospital computer systems; and the standard procedures, records, and terminology used in a veterinary hospital.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays
- Depending on the functional area of assignment, tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or extended periods of time standing and/or walking.
- This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion. May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds)

Our emergency department is a 24-hour service with attachments to 5 other specialty departments. Position Overview:
The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by providing fast and organized emergency triage, and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing inpatient care and discharging patients, as well as maintaining patient medical records.
Essential Position Functions:
- Determine animal requirements by conducting brief exam and collecting pertinent medical histories, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.
- Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, wound care and post operative monitoring for critically ill patients.
- Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing and bringing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients; aids as directed by the veterinarian.
- Provide excellent patient care by applying full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and specialized drug administration.
- Obtain and verify medications.
- Ensure that patients have food and water, clean patients' rooms, cages, and equipment; observe patients for clinical signs of disease.
- As directed, fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs.
- Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing and disinfecting holding and operating areas, storing sterile supplies, verifying shelf life, following standards and procedures, and in compliance with applicable legal regulations.
- Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communicate with the pet owner about the status of the patient, as directed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining equipment supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional journals.
- Release pets to their owners as directed; ensure that every animal released is clean and properly groomed before their release.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice.

Assignment to the specialty medical areas listed below may require the following additional job functions:
Emergency
- Assist veterinarians with a variety of emergency procedures and critical care situations.
- Monitor vitals, place catheters and take x-rays.
- Clean wounds and apply casts or bandages.
- Give injections and take blood samples.
- 3 shifts per week 12-14 hours/shift
- Nights and weekend shift differential (additional) hourly pay

Qualifications:

- Two or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or the Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT) preferred or as required by State.
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Position Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of the preparation, monitoring, and recovery of pets receiving surgery, as well as advanced veterinary nursing.
- Ability to demonstrate and follow correct procedures in catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, and digital radiology.
- Understand and limit the potential exposure to bites, scratches, and potential injuries.
- Able to restrain patients according to standard procedures.
- Fill prescriptions and monitor sedation procedures as directed by the veterinarian.
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
- Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain.
- Communicate and approach job duties in a professional and mature manner.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays.
- This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion.
- Depending on the functional area of assignment, tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or extended periods of time standing and/or walking.
- May include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Summary
Perform triage for patients presenting on emergency and providing nursing care to critically ill patients. Assist clinicians with performing advanced technical skills and proficient in critical thinking to provide the highest level of care for critically ill patients.

- Assist in providing clinical support to the faculty in the delivery of ECC care services for companion animals.
- Proficient in IV Catheter placement as well as fluid sample collection.
- Able to assist in CPR as well as provide critical nursing care to post arrest patients.
- Provide restraint of patients without risk to patient, self, and others.
- Possess the ability to observe patients and recognize subtle changes in status.
- Perform physical exams on veterinary patients.
- Able to utilize monitoring equipment and recognize trends in EKG, BP, CO2, Spo2.
- Properly perform medical treatments on hospitalized patients including administering PO, IM, Sub Q and IV medications.
- Assist with advanced clinical procedures including pericardiocentesis, thoracocentesis and blood product administration.
- Strong skillset in: medical terminology, medical math and CRI administration.
- Able to perform triage by obtaining medically necessary information from clients and assessing patient status in an efficient and professional manner.
- Able to take diagnostic quality abdominal and chest radiographic films on patients.
- Able to perform in house diagnostics including microscopy, chemistry and urinalysis at an advanced level.
- Able to check in a client after hours, enter charges, process payments, retrieve previous medical history.
- Able to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participates in CE for the purpose of personal development and development of a critical care mindset.
Education and Experience
Credentialed veterinary technician or equivalent experience. *Equivalent experience is equal to 3 years general practice experience or 2 years' experience in specialty or emergency practice.

Position Overview: The Hospital Manager works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. The Hospital Manager partners with the Veterinarian to provide an efficient and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and excellent customer service.
Essential Position Functions:
- Supervises the staff within all hospital support departments; achieves and maintains all labor goals.
- Hires and trains office and technical clinic support staff; responsible for new hire paperwork.
- Orients and trains new clinic staff to the hospital and duties.
- Reviews work performance of direct reports, constructively delivers feedback, resolves personnel issues, and discussions with the Regional Manager weekly.
- Conducts timely performance appraisals.
- Documents and reports accidents; files appropriate reports.
- Writes policies/procedures relating to all technical aspects of the hospital and presents for approval.
- Manages schedules for technical and administrative staff coordinates the DVM.
- Monitors Workforce Management for missed punches and management of overtime hours daily.

- Assists in resolving issues with pet owners where appropriate.
- Reviews revenue, labor, and employee issues with the PetVet leadership on a weekly conference call; achieve goals set in each area.
- Responsible for all local accounting functions; ensure daily financial information is accurate.
- Oversees the management of the inventory and ensures proper documentation and systems are in place.
- May establish and oversee billing practices; reviews and maintains the accuracy of billing and oversees charge capturing.
- May be responsible for contracts or negotiations with insurance providers.
- Maintain compliance of current licensure and the display of the same. Maintaining updated licenses for DVMs.

- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or the Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT) preferred or as required by State.
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Veterinary Technician Job Description Position Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of the preparation, monitoring, and recovery of pets receiving surgery, as well as basic pet nursing.
- Ability to demonstrate and follow correct procedures in catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, and digital radiology.
- Understand and limit the potential exposure to bites, scratches and potential injuries.
- Able to restrain patients according to standard procedures.
- Fill prescriptions, and monitor sedation procedures as directed by the veterinarian
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
- Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness or pain. • Communicate and approach job duties in a professional and mature manner.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays.
- This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion.
- Depending on the functional area of assignment, tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or extended periods of time standing and/or walking.
- May include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds).
- Answer phones and perform other duties as needed by the hospital.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager or practice.
